The soundtrack to Hero Defense has grown as more levels and content gets added in. To hear the whole soundtrack in its current form click here!. This has been a really fun iPhone game to work on and I hope you enjoy the soundtrack. I’m working on several other projects right now but still have room to take on more work!
Happy New Year! (Better late than never…) Madsen Studios LLC has been completely redesigned and I’m in the process of writing a whole slew of new music. In the coming months I’ll also be releasing a library of music that can be licensed out, which helps keep costs and production times down for teams with smaller budgets. Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth was kind enough to feature me in The Art & Science of Games issue of Imagine. Finally, I’m taking on more work so if you have a need or know someone that does please contact me!
I’ll be at Austin GDC Sept 15th through the 18th. This is my third time to attend and it has always proven to be a very effective, educational and fun experience. In addition to attending all of the sessions and round tables, I’ll be assiting in judging this years Iron Composer Competition since I took first place in last year’s event. It should be a really fun time! Also 3 Common Mistakes Young Sound Designers Make – Part 2 has now been posted!
My friend and fellow composer-sound designer Angelo Panetta was kind enough to feature my article 3 Common Mistakes Young Sound Designers Make – Part 1 This is the first entry of a three part series. Check it out if you have some spare time!
I’m happy to announce the release of Hero Defense, a new iPhone game for which I composed the project’s music as well as the sound design. The game is being published by Brilliant Worlds. If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, then you really should check this fun game out! You can hear a two of the tracks by clicking the link below!
My alma mater, Oklahoma Baptist University, wrote up a nice article about what I do and the projects I’ve worked on. You can check the article out here!
I’m thrilled to have been invited to write two chapters (The Game Audio Contractor and Tools and Techniques of an Audio Professional) for Design and Content Creation: A Gamedev.net Collection which was published last month. You can learn more about the book and order it here!
I just finished up giving a series of lectures at Oklahoma Baptist University discussing working as a professional composer-sound designer and networking. It was a blast! I’m talking with a few other universities about speaking on their campuses as well. If you’re interested in having me come speak at your school or company, just email me and we’ll work out the details!
The second book that features me as a composer is out! Aaron Marks’ The Complete Guide to Game Audio is available on Amazon and other retailers. I have a profile, headshot and several works featured on the companion DVD. This is the first book I read before I started my career as a composer-sound designer and has been my top recommendation to anyone who asks me “Where do I start?” or “How do I make it in this industry?”
