It’s the 80’s all over again! SkateBIRD on Cassette Tape!
As a kid, I can remember taking my Sony Walkman out, popping in a killer cassette tape and playing outside. Maybe I was listening to some sweet 80’s pop. Perhaps I was pretending to be Rambo while listening to the OST from the movies. Or even just tuning in to my local radio station. It didn’t matter; my Walkman was with me providing awesome (tubular, even!) grooves.
Old is New Again.
Like with many things, retro is back in. Audiophiles are buying vinyl. Folks are watching shows set during the 80’s. (I’m looking at you Stranger Things.) People are wearing shirts with Autobot and Decepticon icons on them. And cassette tapes are back in fashion. Just read this Rolling Stones article if you don’t believe me. With that in mind, I’m very excited to be able to announce the SkateBIRD OST on tape cassette.
To explain more, here’s a press release from Glass Bottom Games:
Cassette tapes, boxed edition and t-shirts! Oh my!
We worked with The YeTee to produce those kickass USB cassette tape mini-boxed editions for the backers, and as a result, we had, you know. Excess inventory. And people were asking if they could buy that. But we didn’t just wanna sell exactly the same thing we gave to backers, so BEHOLD:

We got actual audio cassettes with the game’s soundtrack on ’em, a special edition that includes a USB-key cassette tape thingy with game stuff on it, and even a t-shirt! Those are all available on The YeTee’s site, right here: https://theyetee.com/collections/skatebird

Or more specifically,
Just the audio tape is here: https://theyetee.com/collections/skatebird/products/skatebird
Collector’s Bundle is here: https://theyetee.com/collections/skatebird/products/skatebird-tiny-collectors-bundle
and the t-shirt is here (which is a pre-order): https://theyetee.com/collections/skatebird/products/skatebird-1
Anyhoo, enjoy! Fun fact, the OST for SkateBIRD is so meaty that fitting it onto a single cassette almost didn’t happen. We had to hunt around for a somewhat obscure, very particular audio cassette that’s big enough to hold all the music. It still plays in regular cassette tapes, it’s just got more actual tape in it, so I expect these things will feel hefty, heh.
Hi, It’s Nate again.
Thanks to Glass Bottom Games for that press release! Physical copies of the OST has been requested for a while, so we’re thrilled to be able to provide this! I’ve listened to the soundtrack on tape and it honestly sounds GREAT! There are not a ton of other updates I can speak about publicly at this point, but I’ll certainly update you when I can. I have signed on to do another side, casual game – which should be a blast. Also, I can say I’m writing some new music for SkateBIRD.
